Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World
Since 1999, Chicago Creative Coalition members have gone on an art walk in the fall to view interesting work, “share and air our aesthetic opinions in friendly company, and re-inspire and rejuvenate our creative spirits.” (Took that right out of our 1999 program description!)
This year we will trek Cantigny Park in Wheaton in search of Alebrijes: spirit creatures crafted by six master artists from Mexico City.
We are planning a picnic lunch (rain or shine!) from Los Burritos Tapatios in Glen Ellyn ($15 per person). We will buy a bunch of delicious items and eat buffet-style. You can let us know if you (or guests) are vegetarians when you register below. Bring chairs and/or blankets and beverage of your choice (no alcohol allowed in the park, however). Besides the food we will provide plates, utensils, etc.
We will work off lunch as we trek the park and attempt to see all 48 Alebrijes!
